Wesley Blake was released from WWE and that name will stay with Vince McMahon’s company. He has already picked a new moniker to use in the pro wrestling world as soon as his 90-day non-compete clause is up.

There is interest out there to re-form Blake and Murphy with Buddy Murphy. Both were recently released, but that team has not seen a reunion yet. You can also never say never in pro wrestling.

While talking to Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Blake revealed that he is keeping that last name. His first name will change, but not by much. If anything, he seems to have improved on his old WWE persona.

“I’m going by Westin Blake. When I was in NXT the first time, I pitched a bunch on names. I was always told it’s best if you can have a name that you can connect with. I have an older brother named Blake, so that was a big driving factor. Most of my life I have been called Weston, because that’s my last name. When I gave them the list of NXT names, Wesley Blake was the winner. They had 3 or 4 on there, I can’t remember them but they were not that good.”

We’ll have to see if Westin Blake gets any interest in the pro wrestling world once his non-compete clause is up. The free agent market is full of big names and some of them are getting signed in a hurry. Hopefully, Westin Blake can find his spot in the pro wrestling world soon enough.
