WWE is going through an interesting situation right now as many NXT Superstars could find themselves on the main roster soon enough. Shotzi & Nox were just called up to SmackDown last week, and Toni Storm is on her way as well. There is a reason for this shake-up.

The company just axed a number of Superstars from the main roster. This was an effort to trim the bottom line and they got rid of some high-dollar contracts in the process. The company is also getting back on the road and they need bodies in the ring.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Vince McMahon saw that there was nobody “new and fresh on the roster,” and he blamed poor ticket sales on that. This caused him to reach into the black and gold brand for fresh faces.

One person close to the situation noted exactly that, when the advances came in, Vince assessed it by saying there was nobody new, fresh or exciting on the roster and that’s when he went to NXT with the idea of freshening up the roster with new faces who would be pushed hard right out of the box (or until he gives up on some of them quickly.

We will have to see who Vince McMahon calls up next. Sometimes he can get someone, like Keith Lee, and use them for a bit before they totally disappear from WWE television. Now it seems that McMahon is turning to NXT once again to freshen up the roster. Hopefully, he has a good plan for those he plans on calling up.
