Samoa Joe is undoubtedly one of the most talented and accomplished pro wrestlers in the history of the pro wrestling world and his time in WWE has been a great one, which has seen Joe win the NXT Championship and also titles on the main roster.

Samoa Joe was released back in April of this year as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts. Thankfully, Samoa Joe would finally make his return to NXT earlier this month, where he was offered to become the new NXT General manager, but turned down the offer. Samoa Joe then became William Regal’s new enforcer.

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Samoa Joe talked about the reasons why he decided to make his return to NXT. Samoa Joe ultimately came back as he wanted to work with Triple H and Shawn Michaels and that he is grateful to work with the current group of male and female NXT Superstars.

A lot of why I’m back is the people I’m working with in NXT. It starts with the passion of Hunter and Shawn Michaels, who is an incredible mind. And I’m amazed at the women on the roster. They’re beyond incredible. Some are very young in their careers, and they’re exceptional—look at Raquel [González], she’s been fantastic. Then look at Ember Moon, Dakota Kai, Io Shirai. It’s a murderer’s row of top-tier, internationally certified talent. NXT, they’re putting out an incredible wrestling program.

Samoa Joe already revealed that he is working towards return to the squared circle. Samoa Joe has not competed inside the squared circle since February of last year and has largely worked as part of the Monday Night RAW commentary team before his release. We will have to see when he will be making his in-ring return.
