WWE is bringing Samoa Joe back to NXT, but he wasn’t the only name that they considered. The company has axed several people over the past few months and Triple H was interested in a few of them.

NXT gave Drake Maverick a contract after his April 2020 release. According to Fightful Select there were almost more, but it didn’t end up taking place. They did discuss the idea of trying to bring them in. The specific names of those Superstars were not revealed.

There were numerous releases over the past 14 months that NXT had discussed trying to bring in, but didn’t end up happening, and actually at least one of the recently released stars pitched for a return to NXT but were shot down.

Samoa Joe will join the WWE NXT team, but it is not known exactly what capacity the two sides will work together. There is possibility that Joe’s role with the company could expand. Triple H was very eager to get Samoa Joe in NXT as soon as he heard about his WWE release. It appears that paid off in this instance.
