Finn Balor was taken off of WWE television as The Fiend made his debut during SummerSlam 2019. That performance from Bray Wyatt’s violent alter ego all but squashed Finn Balor. He then took a long hiatus where he got married and acquired a few tattoos. Then Balor made his return to NXT upon his comeback.

Balor’s Demon has not been seen in a long time as The Prince returned to NXT instead. WWE had some plans for its return. The idea was that Balor’s Demon would seek retribution on Bray Wyatt’s Fiend, but those plans didn’t come together.

During the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, Andrew Zarian was asked if Balor’s Demon vs Wyatt’s Fiend is a possibility for SummerSlam this year. That did not receive a positive response, but he did reveal something very interesting about a plan that hit the cutting room floor.

That was supposed to happen a year ago, but the pandemic happened.

WWE apparently had plans for Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt to battle once again. That match didn’t come together because the pandemic changed so much.

We can only imagine how that match was supposed to turn out. The pandemic ruined a ton of plans and it seems that the Demon vs the Fiend is one big match that we didn’t get to see.

Are you bummed that WWE nixed this idea? Sound off in the comments!
