WWE has a ThunderDome setup in Tropicana Field that they do not want to deconstruct for just one night. The company has the abilities to do so, but it’s a lot of work. This is keeping live fans from the Royal Rumble.

According to Wrestle Votes, WWE just sees it as too much trouble to pay a crew to take down the ThunderDome for the Royal Rumble, and then get it back up the next night for RAW. The wait for lives fans to return will continue.

Still getting a ton of Royal Rumble / fan attendance questions. The fact of the matter is WWE views the stress, manpower and complete undertaking of removing the ThunderDome for one night as just too much to make it all work. Sad but true. The wait continues.

Vince McMahon is able to control every reaction within the ThunderDome, essentially controlling the audience like he has always dreamed. McMahon can now make sure nobody chants “CM Punk” at his shows ever again. That power might be too great for him to give it up so soon. Live fans will return to WWE events, but it will be very interesting to see how long it takes for that to happen.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
