WWE is always looking to sign big names, especially if they have a ton of experience. It took a lot of trying, but they were finally able to sign Timothy Thatcher.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Thatcher went to Japan and tried to get a job there. He had no interest as the competition for foreign talent in Japan is fierce.

After he didn’t have any interest from Japan, he finally signed with WWE. The company had tried to sign him on a few occasions, but Thatcher kept telling them no.

His situation was further explained in the the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Basically I was told after the years of being recruited he finally decided it was time to give it a shot. Things has changed for him in the past year and he had tried to get a regular Japan gig, but none came through

Timothy Thatcher has impressed where ever he’s gone before. Now he will have a chance to show the WWE Universe what he has to offer. If he would have received an offer from a Japanese company then he might have kept telling WWE no.
