“Stone Cold” Steve Austin was a huge draw in his day. He didn’t get that way by accepting any idea that WWE had for him.

While speaking to Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take, The Rattlesnake discussed how he would tell WWE no when he didn’t like an idea. He didn’t always have a better idea either, but it was important for him to protect himself when needed.

“I had a lot of control and they always for the most part put me in really good positions to do great things, but I was one of the worst if I didn’t like an idea I would flat-out tell you that’s bullsh*t and they’d say, ‘Well do you have a better idea?’ and I’d say, ‘No’ and it’d be like three hours before live TV and they’d have to come up with a completely different thing for Stone Cold to do. So, I was always the first guy in the building. I was always the last guy to leave. I worked my ass off, but if I don’t like creative I’ll let you know about it.”

Steve Austin has left the in-ring activity to the WWE Superstars of today. Now he can provide a role model for other Superstars to look up to.

WWE might always be trying to entertain with the segments they produce in the ring, but not everything is going to be the best thing for their individual characters in the long run.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
