Sheamus spent several months away from WWE following WrestleMania. Now he is set for his return to the blue brand after a backstage promo aired last week.

While speaking to After The Bell, Sheamus revealed that he unplugged from WWE during his time away from the company. That doesn’t mean he stopped watching completely. He still has a few friends on the main roster that he had to keep up with.

“I did unplug. Obviously I was watching what Cesaro was doing and Drew [McIntyre] was doing and what Rusev was doing. I’m pretty close to those three guys. Drew, I came up with on the indies.”

“2005 I believe is when Drew and I crossed paths for the first time. We wrestled each other a bunch of times in Ireland and Scotland and England as well before we both got signed on the same day after a tryout in London in 2007. It was me, Drew, Wade Barrett and a couple other lads who never made it to the main roster.”

“I always check out what [McIntyre] is doing. Obviously, Rusev he’s my next door neighbor and of course, Cesaro who obviously I tagged with for a couple of years — one of the most successful tag teams of all time, The Bar.”

“Generally I kinda unplugged for a little bit. I wanted to get my head back — my head straight. When I knew I was about to make a return I started getting into it watching everything — RAW, SmackDown, NXT — you know just to catch up on what’s going on. Honestly, after watching Survivor Series my appetite to get back was stronger than ever.”

Sheamus seems focused and ready to take Friday Night SmackDown by storm. That hiatus from the company seems to have done him well. It provided The Celtic Warrior with the added boost that he needed and it gave him time to heal. Now we’ll just have to see what’s next for him in WWE.
