The New Day were able to retain their SmackDown Tag Team Championships in the opening match of the night in Melbourne Australia, but the second match of the night had a different result for the resident SmackDown Champion, this time it was Becky Lynch.
Lynch went at Flair in a big way early on and they brawled on the outside with Becky keeping a huge advantage, but things would soon shift to Charlotte Flair’s side soon enough.
Flair fought back and hit 2 spears and latched on the Figure 8. Then Becky Lynch grabbed her SmackDown Women’s Title which was already in the ring and then she hit Flair as the move was still locked on. The referee called for the bell officially ending the match, but it wasn’t over. Flair chased Lynch outside only to get clotheslined and hit with a Becksploder suplex on the outside.
This wasn’t the kind of finish the Australian fans wanted and you could hear them voice their displeasure. The referee had to restrain Lynch and made her leave as the crowd chanted for her but they still didn’t seem too happy about how it ended. But it looks like the SmackDown Women’s Championship isn’t going anywhere and neither is this rivalry.
