We are less than a month away from Hell in a Cell. Sure, many people don’t like that it’s a yearly event instead of a special match that occurs rarely, but that’s a discussion for another time. We’re just going to talk about what’s happening this September.

Which feuds are heating up just in time for Hell in a Cell? Which superstars have devolved into bloodthirsty barbarians who can only be satisfied by inflicting violence? Who absolutely hates their opponent?

Here are four matches that could potentially take place within the confines of the cell.

samoa joe v. aj styles

What was initially a routine “I want your championship” story has quickly spiraled out of control. Samoa Joe has gotten under the skin of WWE Champion AJ Styles. Joe mocked the Styles family, and at Summerslam, he paid for it dearly in the form of a beatdown. But the story isn’t over just yet.

Technically, Styles cheated Joe out of the title by intentionally getting himself disqualified. He allowed Joe to get into his head, and now he’s paying the price. He has to face Joe again, and this time, it may be inside Hell in a Cell.

These two men have developed such an intense hatred for each other in such a short amount of time. I’d be surprised if they didn’t face off inside the Hell in a Cell structure, because that match could be awesome. Joe is such a brutal wrestler, and Styles is so good at making us believe he’s in danger. A Hell in a Cell match would totally elevate their feud.

randy orton v. jeff hardy

At Extreme Rules, Randy Orton returned from injury and promptly stomped on Jeff Hardy’s dick. At the next Smackdown, he ambushed Hardy and put his finger through the hole left by Hardy’s ear disk. It was all sorts of nasty. Because of all these ambushes, Hardy and Orton had a match last Smackdown. It ended with Jeff punching Orton in the dick and then sending him through a table with a Swanton Bomb. It was quite cool.

I’d be surprised if the feud ended just like that. No, this needs a bigger and better ending, and what better place to end such a vitriolic and hateful feud than inside Hell in a Cell? Just two men locked inside with nowhere else to go. Could be fun.

Orton and Hardy are two in-ring veterans who could tell an absolutely great story within the cage. And then Hardy can try do a Swanton Bomb off the cell if he wants to.

becky lynch v. charlotte flair

I dunno if WWE wants to save this match for Evolution or what, but if they want to have a 2nd ever Women’s Hell in a Cell match, they could do a lot worse than this.

While I think the alignments are all wrong for this feud, I’m willing to see where it goes. Maybe it turns out to be something really special. We shall see what we shall see.

If WWE decides to have Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair compete inside the Hell in a Cell structure, the build could be somewhat spectacular. I’m not talking about how Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks were so happy to compete inside the “Devil’s Playground” and then Mick Foley yelled so hard that his teeth fell out. Hopefully WWE learns from their mistakes and gives this match a proper build, should it actually happen.

Becky Lynch is one of the best promos among the women, so she could absolutely sell the anger and fear of having to compete in this match. I’m less sure about Charlotte and the way she always stresses the wrong words during her promos (“you AND me, at Hell IN A Cell”), but if Lynch does most of the talking, it will be great.

6 man armageddon match for the universal championship

Disclaimer: nothing’s been said about an Armageddon match. There’s no reason to expect one. It would just be really crazy to see one.

So far, there’s only been one six man Hell in a Cell match, and according to everyone (I haven’t seen it), it was absolutely crazy. I think that with today’s roster, a six man Hell in a Cell match could be something else.

What a sight it would be to see six of Raw’s top superstars battling it out for the Universal Championship. I think it could raise the stock of the title a bit, because right now not a lot of people care about it.

Imagine Roman Reigns defending against Finn Balor, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, Baron Corbin, and Drew McIntyre inside the cell. It doesn’t even need to be that exact combination. There are quite a few people who could be added to the match and it would be great.

Don’t expect this match to happen, but if it does, I called it.
