Original Plan Revealed for The Mae Young Classic Final

The Mae Young Classic saw Kairi Sane defeat Shayna Baszler to win the tournament, but the original plan was that Kairi Sane would go over Toni Storm in the finals, according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Sane winning defeating Storm in the finals was the original plan before the tournament started but WWE changed it to a semi final match instead and decided to go with the Four Horsewomen angle with Shayna Baszler. It was decided earlier in the week of the final that the Four Horsewomen angle will be saved for another day.

There were also talks about the tournament winner being crowned as the NXT Women’s Champion, but that idea was scrapped. Instead, Sane will compete for the vacant title on November 18 at NXT Takeover: Houston. WWE has not announced whether the match will be a singles match or multi-person match. There is speculation that Sane would go against Ember Moon for the title.
