WWE SmackDown World Championship Match

(C) Jinder Mahal Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

The Indian announce team is shown doing commentary for the first minute of the match before it goes back to the English team. Nakamura hits a kick right away to make Mahal back up and rethink his strategy. The Maharaja wrings the arm, but Shinsuke counters into a headlock. Mahal easily overpowers him and reverses the hold.

Nakamura puts his head on Jinder’s stomach to taunt him. He dares Jinder to come at him, and it works. Mahal gets thrown out of the ring. The WWE champion kicks Nakamura in the gut to take control. He sends Nakamura into the barricade before rolling him back in the ring for a series of stomps. Jinder mocks Shinsuke’s signature taunt before laying him out with a back elbow to the face.

Nakamura unleashes a flurry of strikes to allow himself time to recover. He sticks Mahal with a running kick to the face as he starts to get his second wind. Nakamura is able to pull Mahal down into a triangle choke, but Jinder gets his foot in the rope to force a break. Mahal avoids a running knee and rolls Nakamura up for a quick two count. Jinder nails his own running knee for another close fall. Shinsuke takes out both Singhs when they get in the ring, allowing Mahal to hit his finisher for the pin and the win!

Winner: Jinder Mahal

A really solid match and I’m actually glad to see Jinder retain. The more WWE pushes Mahal, the less we assume he’ll eventually go back to jobbing. We can expect these two to tango again at No Mercy.
