WWE Executive Advocates for Return of Former Superstar Duo

WWE has plenty of former Superstars out there who would pick up the phone if the company called them. It appears that AOP has one higher-up pulling for their return.

Road Dogg is currently WWE’s Senior Vice President of Live Events. He controls the narratives at live event. As Ringside News exclusively reported, he is a big piece to the puzzle, especially when they want to run main roster storylines at those house shows.

Road Dogg also served on WWE’s creative team during the 2010s as SmackDown head writer. He has collaborated with numerous superstars in the process. In a recent podcast episode, he shared his interest in seeing the Authors of Pain return to television.

Akam and Rezar were part of WWE from 2016 to 2020. These former NXT and RAW Tag Team Champions reportedly renewed their contracts with the company in 2022 but have yet to make a televised appearance.

On the latest installment of his Oh You Didn’t Know? podcast, Road Dogg revisited Survivor Series 2018. While discussing AOP’s match against Cesaro and Sheamus at the event, the 54-year-old expressed his appreciation for Seth Rollins’ former on-screen associates.

“I’m a tag team guy,” Road Dogg stated. “I love the dudes. I know they’re not twins, but for me you have twin magic in the men’s category, and they’re both big, huge guys, international dudes, that were really learning how to work on a high level down there in NXT with the teams they were working with, and the production rate at which they were learning. Holy mackerel, the sky was the limit. I’m a fan. I’d love to see those guys back.”

It was previously reported that AOP and Paul Ellering re-signed with WWE a while ago. They are waiting things out for the right creative moment to come for their return. We will have to see what Triple H’s plan is, but it is apparent that he is up to something.

We will keep a close eye out for Akam and Rezar’s return to WWE. You never know what can pop off next, especially as we round the corner to another road to WrestleMania.
