It was reported Saturday night that Cody Rhodes has signed an exclusive deal with Ring of Honor but will continue to work NJPW events. The official contract signing took place at Saturday’s television tapings.
Dave Meltzer discussed Cody signing exclusively with Ring of Honor on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and indicated that Cody will be working less dates. The belief is that Cody may only be working around 100 total dates per year. 65 of those dates will be for Ring of Honor, while 35 dates will be for New Japan. Meltzer said that Cody was working around four indie dates per week, all over the US and that scheduled was killing him.
In regards to Cody’s next challenger for the Ring of Honor World Championship, Meltzer said that Dalton Castle will possibly be the next challenger.
