WWE United States Champions Who Never Won A World Title

WWE has a plethora of titles and the U.S. strap is one of them. The United States Championship has a rich history. It originally began as regional championship called the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship. The U.S. title became secondary to the heavyweight title after WCW became an entity of its own. WWE introduced their version of the title in 2003. Many current and former WWE have held the title. Some would go on to win the world title. Others, on the other hand, never managed to do so.

Taijiri

Taijiri was a top star in ECW and would often appear in WWE as part of Vince McMahon’s working relationship with Paul Heyman. The Japanese Buzzsaw put on incredible matches and entertained the crowds with his impeccable comedic timing.

Taijiri

Taijiri also happens to one of the performers who won the United States Champion but never managed to enter the world title picture. For those not in the know, Taijiri was only the second ever person to hold the U.S. title once it had moved to WWE.

Rhyno

The War Machine Rhyno made a tremendous impact in Paul Heyman’s ECW. Rhyno even won the brand’s top title. Rhyno’s WWE career also led to him capturing different titles including the United States Championship.

Rhyno

However, Rhyno never made it to the world title picture despite having the looks of a perfect heel champion. Winning the U.S. title, of course, was a huge achievement in itself for the master of the gore but the world title remained out of his reach.

MVP

MVP made his debut during the Ruthless Aggression Era and quickly made a name for himself on the mid card. MVP became one of the most recognizable faces on SmackDown and routinely butted heads with tops stars Batista and The Undertaker.

MVP

MVP and Matt Hardy also had a classic feud over the United States Championship. MVP never got the world title during his WWE career. However, that did not stop him from forming The Hurt Business and mentoring Bobby Lashley to world title glory.

Rusev

Rusev was built as an unstoppable monster during his initial years in WWE. The Bulgarian Brute was paired with real-life wife CJ Perry aka Lana. Rusev went on an undefeated streak as soon as he arrived on the main roster.

Rusev

Rusev won the United States Championship early on in his run on the main roster. WWE did a great job of building him as legitimate threat to main roster superstars including John Cena. Unfortunately, WWE pulled the plug on him and Rusev got stuck on the mid card till his eventual release came by.

Cesaro

WWE not putting a world title on Cesaro is considered to be a missed opportunity by many fans of the sports and entertainment juggernaut. The Swiss Superman has ever tool it takes to become a world champion.

Cesaro

Even though he often had huge support from the 'Cesaro section,' it wasn't enough for the creative team to give him a push to the World Title. The closest he got to win the big thing was during his feud against current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
