Wrestlers You Didn't Know Won World Titles In The 2000s

The new millennium changed the pro landscape in the United States. WCW suffered defeat at the hands of WWE. New promotions began to emerge. Many up and coming pro wrestlers started picking up steam and gaining national exposure. The decade that followed led to the fans witnessing some of the greatest championship runs in pro wrestling history and fans who didn’t grow up in that era might not know about the champions who held the strap in their respective promotions.

Rhyno is a veteran of the business and has competed in wrestling promotions around the world. The War Machine gained mainstream recognition as the ECW World Heavyweight Champion. He also won the Hardcore and WCW United States Championships during his Attitude Era stint with the WWE.

Rhyno is also a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. He won the title on October 23, 2005, at the TNA Bound for Glory PPV. Rhyno defeated Jeff Jarrett for the strap but lost it to Double J at the very next NWA-TNA tapings two days later.

Adam Pearce is a regular on WWE TV. Pearce plays an on-screen authority figure on both Raw and SmackDown. Pearce is also a former multi-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Two of his reigns came in the late 2000s.

His first title reign, however, took place in a different promotion. Pearce won the All Star Wrestling Heavyweight Championship and the Ultimate Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship way before he had his run with the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.

Eddie Kingston has yet to win a title in All Elite Wrestling. Kingston has been wrestling for nearly 18 years. For those not in the know, Kingston is a former world champion. He won the top titles in Combat Zone Wrestling and Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South.

Kingston defeated Chris Hero to win the Combat Zone Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship on September 9, 2006. His second world title reign began on December 7, 2007, when he defeated Hero, Chuck Taylor, and Mike Quackenbush for the IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Championship.

Cesaro worked the independents before making a name for himself in WWE. Cesaro won different titles during his run with WWE that lasted for more than a decade. The Swiss Superman recently made his debut for All Elite Wrestling.

His first major world title reign came in Westside Xtreme Wrestling, where he won the wXw Heavyweight Championship on two occasions between December 2003 and December 2004. He also captured the IWA Switzerland Heavyweight Championship.

Kevin Owens has received a lot of praise for is ability to turn storylines into success. KO is a multi-time champion in WWE. He was also the second Universal Champion and had an entertaining run with the title before the promotion fed him to Goldberg.
