5 WWE Superstars Who Refused To Appear On Total Divas

WWE fans had always wanted to know how superstars went about in their private lives. This prompted WWE to partner with E! to introduce Total Divas. The reality TV series explored the lives of female WWE superstars in and outside the ring. Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Cameron, Eva Marie, JoJo, Naomi, and Natalya were the original cast members. The cast expanded to include Alicia Fox, Paige, Rosa Mendes and Summer Rae. Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss and Ronda Rousey also appeared on the show. Despite its popularity, not all female superstars agreed to film content for Total Divas. These five superstars in particular had their reasons for not wanting to appear on the show.

Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair is widely considered one of the greatest female performers, not only of this generation, but of all time. The Queen has been a Raw, SmackDown and NXT Women’s Champion in WWE. The scary thing is, she’s accomplished all that within a decade.

Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair revealed she had been in talks to appear on Total Divas but distanced herself from reality TV because of her real life connection to Ric Flair. The Queen said people assume she gets all the opportunities due to her being Ric Flair’s daughter even though that isn’t the case.

Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch put on some incredible matches before a shoulder injury ruined her momentum. Lynch separated her shoulder during her Raw Women’s Championship Match with Bianca Belair at SummerSlam 2022. Lynch talked about her plans for Total Divas way back in 2017.

Becky Lynch

“It's not something I ever wanted for myself. It's a great opportunity for the women. But I never envisioned myself in that role. And there's a certain mystique about myself that I'd like to keep. I don't want to give out too much of Rebecca Quin,” she told Bleacher Report.

Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks shocked the pro wrestling world when she and Naomi walked out in the middle of Raw earlier this year. WWE retaliated by stripping the two of the Women’s Tag Team Championship and removing all of their mentions.

Sasha Banks

Banks has no intentions of appearing on Total Divas as well. Speaking to Busted Open Radio in April 2016, Sasha Banks made it clear that she is a wrestler, as opposed to a Diva, and stated that she would never appear on the show as a cast member.

Paige

Paige appeared on Total Divas between 2014 and 2016. She made her return to the reality TV series after a two-year absence in 2018, but Paige was told by the producers that won’t cast her in future episodes because she was no longer an active in-ring competitor.

Paige

Speaking on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast in February 2020, the two-time Divas Champion explained that she was offered a guest role on the show but turned it down. Paige parted ways with WWE in July 2022 and is currently a free agent.

AJ Lee

AJ Lee was arguably the most popular female performer during her stint in WWE. AJ Lee flat out refused to be a part of Total Divas. The show’s initial run coincided with AJ Lee’s ascent to stardom and the multi-time Divas Champion explained her reasons for not wanting to work Total Divas in a pipebomb.

AJ Lee

AJ Lee revealed during a Q&A in 2017 that Vince McMahon told her to cut a promo about not wanting to appear on Total Divas. Lee went on to insult the entire cast of the show, describing them as “cheap, interchangeable, expandable, useless women”, and McMahon later said backstage that he was “so proud” of her promo.
