No matter who you are whatever you do, please don’t try this at home. Wrestling fans who grew up on the Attitude Era know the advert way too well. The point is, injuries can happen at any time. There are superstars whose career ended in an instant due to injuries. Case in point: Tyson Kidd and Paige. Then there are performers who suffered injuries but returned to action within a matter of months. That being said, here are five WWE superstars who are currently out of action due to injury.
The leader of Titus Worldwide is known for his charitable work outside the WWE. Titus O’Neil has been with WWE since 2009. He honed his craft in both FCW and NXT before landing on the main roster in 2012 as one-half of the Prime Time Players.
Titus gained further traction when he formed Titus Worldwide with Dana Brooke in 2016, but the highlight of his career came during the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia when he famously tripped and slid underneath the ring. Titus hasn’t wrestled since November 2020 and is currently recovering from a knee injury.
Shelton Benjamin was one of the most reliable workers during the Ruthless Aggression Era. Shelton Benjamin achieved initial success as one-half of The World’s Greatest Tag Team with Charlie Haas on SmackDown. His 2005 match against Shawn Michaels is an all-time classic.
The former Intercontinental Champion has been out of action due to an undisclosed injury. He recently shared the injury update on Twitter. Shelton Benjamin didn’t disclose his return date, but we are hoping for a speedy recovery.
Rick Boogs was the ultimate hype man for Shinsuke Nakamura until an unfortunate incident put him on the shelf. Boogs injured his patellar tendon during their WrestleMania 38 tag team match against SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Usos.
The good news is that Boogs is ahead of schedule in his recovery from surgery. Boogs went under the knife last month in Birmingham, Alabama. He recently provided an update on his recovery status. He is expected to miss a couple of months due to his injury.
Bayley is one of the most recognizable faces on WWE TV. Her match against Shasha Banks is considered one of the greatest matches in NXT history. Bayley has been out of action ever since she suffered an ACL injury in the build-up to Money in the Bank last year.
The former RAW Women’s Champion continues to tease her return on social media. Fans thought she would make her big comeback as a surprise entrant at the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match. That didn’t happen. We’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
Big E had an underwhelming run as WWE Champion despite doing his best to elevate the title and, by extension, himself. The New Day member suffered a nasty injury after taking a botched belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland on an episode of SmackDown in the buildup to WrestleMania 38.
The injury, fortunately, didn’t end his career and Big E revealed that he only fractured the C1 and C6 vertebrae. The former WWE Champion continues to provide updates on social media and has remained optimistic throughout the recovery process.
