AEW featured a segment this week with The Young Bucks’ father. Papa Buck was beatdown by MJF and Chris Jericho, and he was left a bloody pulp. The blood was fake, but that’s not what Papa Buck pulled for.

Bryan Alvarez explained during Wrestling Observer Live that Papa Buck actually wanted to cut his forehead for the beatdown segment to really sell things. AEW told him he couldn’t do that, so they used fake blood instead.

“The first question I asked about AEW last night was, ‘Papa Buck wanted to cut himself, didn’t he?’ The answer was ‘yes.’ He wanted to gig and be bleeding all over the place, but then they were like, ‘Brother you can’t do that.’ So, then they put on the fake blood; and so if you’re complaining about fake blood — the one guy complaining about fake blood was the guy covered in fake blood. He wanted a crimson mask of razor bladed guts.”

The “bloody” angle was still affective and it helped tell an old-school story. After all, it doesn’t get much more basic than to beat up someone’s father. This will certainly build toward AEW Revolution where the Young Bucks will enter into the match as big babyfaces seeking revenge.
