Barbie Blank—better known to WWE fans as Kelly Kelly—isn’t holding back when it comes to her early days in the company.
During a new interview on The Wrestling Classic YouTube channel, the former WWE Diva opened up about her time in ECW and one of her most infamous roles during her run from 2006 to 2012.
When asked to reflect on moments from her wrestling career that she now sees in a different light, Barbie immediately pointed to her solo “Kelly’s Exposé” dance routines that aired weekly on WWE’s version of ECW.
“Exposé. Yeah, just me by myself… The Exposé by myself is cringe. With Extreme Exposé with Brooke and Layla, I actually enjoyed—we had fun. I was still a terrible dancer, but having to go out there on national television and do a strip piece by myself every week… I wish we could leave that in the past.”
While the segments were a defining part of her early WWE persona, Kelly Kelly admits she was uncomfortable at the time—especially when performing alone in front of live crowds. The weekly “Exposé” dances were originally designed to add sex appeal to ECW’s rebranding in the mid-2000s, but they’ve aged poorly in today’s wrestling landscape.
Kelly would go on to become a Divas Champion and one of the most recognizable female faces in WWE during the PG Era. Still, her latest comments suggest she’d rather be remembered for her later work than the early ECW gimmicks that made her famous for the wrong reasons.
