Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have worked with numerous top stars during their time in WWE and AEW, including the likes of Randy Orton and CM Punk. However, some people think FTR simply latched onto Orton and Punk and now Adam Copeland, which is why Harwood decided to dismiss such claims.
While speaking to WrestleZone, Dax Harwood responded to claims that FTR latched onto bigger stars like CM Punk and Randy Orton to boost their success. He said that throughout their career, they’ve worked with top names because those stars wanted to team up with them, not because they asked for it.
“We’ve been part of a lot of groups, and it’s funny—I was actually thinking about this today. The funny part is, we get a lot of flack online. People say we latch on to others, but here’s the crazy part.”
Harwood gave examples like FTRKO, saying it was Randy Orton who chose to work with them, and CMFTR, where CM Punk specifically asked to team with them in AEW. He also mentioned Adam Copeland, explaining that even though FTR is a 10-time World Tag Team Champion team, it was Copeland who decided to partner with them.
“Going back to FTRKO, do you really think it was Cash and myself who went to Vince and said, ‘Hey, put us with Randy’? Or was it Randy who said, ‘I’d like to work with these guys’?
Same thing with Punk—CMFTR. Do you think, even though we were doing well in AEW, that we went to Tony and said, ‘Hey, make sure you put us with Punk’? Or was it Punk who said, ‘I want to work with these guys. I want to team with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler’? Who do you think made that call?
The same goes for Adam Copeland. Do you think it was us—10-time World Tag Team Champions, Seven Star FTR, recognized as one of the greatest tag teams in the world—who made Adam say, ‘Let’s team up’? Or was it Adam, with his incredible legacy, who wanted to work with us?”
Harwood dismissed the idea that FTR clings to others for success, making it clear that their collaborations come from respect and others wanting to work with them. He added that they’re thankful for these opportunities but don’t go looking to ride anyone else’s wave.
“It’s always others who want to collaborate with us, and honestly, we’re ecstatic to work with them. But it’s so funny to me that people frame it as us latching onto others’ success. That’s not what’s happening, but hey, people can think what they want.”
FTR talked about working with Adam Copeland before he even joined AEW. Regardless, Harwood simply had to make it clear that he would let such claims spread online and decided to put them to rest once and for all.
