WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event made its return to NBC this past weekend with a stacked card that included Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens and Liv Morgan retaining the Women’s World Championship against IYO SKY. The show pulled in 2.3 million viewers, thanks to its nostalgic theme and high-profile matches. However, former WCW star Konnan wasn’t impressed and didn’t hold back his thoughts on the show’s lack of excitement.
Speaking on Keepin’ It 100, Konnan shared his frustrations about what he felt was a lackluster presentation. “I was underwhelmed. They didn’t do any promos, they didn’t do any run-ins, they didn’t do anything that would make you want to see, like if you were a new viewer and you hadn’t seen it in a while, anything that would make you want to see Raw. Maybe they’re saving everything for Netflix, but I was very underwhelmed,” he said.
Konnan’s disappointment didn’t stop there. He added that he has no interest in watching future episodes of Saturday Night’s Main Event if they’re going to be similar to what aired this weekend. WWE’s most newsworthy moment of the night happened off-air, as Kevin Owens attacked Cody Rhodes after their match, stole the Winged Eagle title, and got into a physical confrontation with Triple H on the entrance ramp.
With WWE’s focus seemingly shifting to the upcoming debut of Raw on Netflix, fans are left wondering if Saturday Night’s Main Event will live up to its legacy in future episodes or if it will remain a nostalgia-fueled afterthought.
