Jacob Fatu knows how to play it smart in the wrestling world. The rising WWE star recently sought permission from wrestling veteran Gangrel to use the legendary Impaler DDT as his finisher. Speaking on the latest episode of Off The Top, Rikishi shared the story behind Fatu’s respectful move.

“I was told that Jacob had called David [Gangrel] and asked if it was okay for him to use that finishing move,” Rikishi explained. “David gave him the green light. David is like ‘Uncle David’ to Jacob. You know, being here at Knox Pro back in the day when Jacob first started.”

Rikishi discussed the importance of showing respect to those who came before you. “If you’re coming from this school and you are taught underneath us like that… shame on you if you didn’t have the respect to even call and ask, right? ‘What, all of a sudden, this is your move?’ Give respect where respect is due, follow the correct protocols, and you don’t get no heat.”

The Impaler DDT has long been associated with Gangrel, making Fatu’s gesture of asking permission a clear sign of respect for wrestling tradition. “Big shout out to Jacob for being smart,” Rikishi added.

Fatu’s career continues to gain traction after his recent victory over Jey Uso in a WarGames qualifying match on SmackDown. With the Impaler DDT now part of his arsenal, the young star is poised to leave an even bigger mark in WWE.
