Rey Fenix’s current situation in AEW has led to a ton of controversy, as many people have called out Tony Khan for needlessly keeping him locked into a contract. In the meantime, Fenix has made some startling accusations against AEW and now WWE’s internal reaction to Fenix’s recent accusations on social media have been revealed.

During a recent Live Q&A on Backstage Pass, WrestleVotes talked about WWE’s backstage reaction to Rey Fenix’s tweets, revealing that some people within the company were surprised by his rants on social media.

While it’s not believed that WWE has lost interest in Fenix, the tweets raised some eyebrows, particularly because they were made public. WWE is likely to investigate the situation further to understand what’s going on.

“Hearing that there were those in the WWE that were surprised yesterday with the Rey Fenix tweets. Not to say that they’re not interested anymore, I’m sure that didn’t change, but there were some eyebrows raised over those tweets, especially if you’re going to put that out there publicly. I think WWE is going to do some digging into what’s going on. That doctor one, my phone started to buzz a little bit afterwards, just the surprise from a few WWE staffers that didn’t really have a pulse onto what may or may not be going on over there with Rey Fenix.”

Earlier this week, Chris Featherstone explained why he delayed reporting the news, stating that he received information about the Lucha Brothers’ status from an AEW source on November 20 but waited for one of them to speak out about the situation, as he was told that would happen soon, saying, “I received information from an AEW source on November 20 regarding the Lucha Brothers’ status, but did not report it as I was waiting for one of them to begin speaking their mind about the situation (I was told that was coming).”

Fenix eventually broke his silence on the matter, acknowledging Featherstone’s report and calling it “so far the most accurate comment.” He explained that due to contractual issues, he couldn’t speak at the moment but promised he would have his time. Fenix also reassured fans that he would speak freely when he could, saying,“Unfortunately, due to contractual issues I cannot speak now, but I will have my time.”

Fenix followed it up with another tweet where he claimed that his cries for medical help had been ignored by AEW, writing, “I needed a doctor and you ignored me for months,” which sparked outrage and raised concerns about AEW’s treatment of its talent.

The situation with Rey Fenix is certainly getting a lot of attention, and his comments have been making headlines. It remains unclear whether Tony Khan will decide to release him from his contract earlier than expected, as there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding his situation.
