AEW star Britt Baker is no stranger to the spotlight—or the harsh realities of social media. In an exclusive interview with US Weekly, the former AEW Women’s Champion got candid about the emotional toll of dealing with relentless online critics, admitting she’s had to “mentally dig deep” throughout the year to cope.
“You can’t ever believe what you read about yourself, whether it’s really good or really bad, or you’re going to end up medicated and sedated potentially,” Baker shared, addressing the rollercoaster that comes with being in the public eye.
The D.M.D. star highlighted the paradox of social media, calling it both a necessary tool and a toxic breeding ground for negativity. “We live in a world where social media is so prominent. Social media fuels what we do, essentially,” Baker explained. “But man, is it toxic. It’s brutal.”
Baker didn’t hold back when describing the bizarre behavior she’s encountered online. “There’s a whole population of people on social media who just want to make you feel bad about yourself. It’s crazy we live in a world where that’s their mission. ‘I’m going to wake up today, tweet 10 mean tweets to Britt. I’m gonna take a lunch break. And then maybe I’ll do 10 more.’ It’s bizarre.”
Despite the constant noise from online trolls, Baker remains one of the most recognizable faces in AEW and continues to inspire fans both in and out of the ring.
