Daniel Garcia is staying with All Elite Wrestling, and he’s more motivated than ever to make his mark.
During an interview with Cameron Hawkins for Uncrowned, Garcia opened up about his decision to re-sign with AEW, citing unfinished business as a driving factor. The rising star is determined to reach new heights, expressing his hunger for pay-per-view main events and championship gold.
“I feel like I’m a conqueror,” Garcia said. “But if you look at the facts, I’ve never been in the main event of a pay-per-view. I’ve never won a title. I haven’t solidified myself as a top guy in the company.”
Garcia also acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future over the summer and into the fall, with WWE expressing interest in him. However, Garcia kept his cards close to his chest, saying, “Nobody really knew anything because I did not say anything.”
What excites Garcia the most about AEW is the growing opportunities for young talent, which motivates him to push harder.
“When I see [Konosuke] Takeshita getting a shot for the International title, that gets me excited. Private Party wrestling for the Tag Titles, that gets me excited. Whenever Top Flight has a big match on Dynamite, that gets me hyped,” Garcia shared. “I love being involved with the young talent. I love talking about ideas, wrestling theory, and receiving advice.”
Garcia emphasized the sense of camaraderie within the AEW locker room, noting that he feels right at home among the roster. He recalled a recent moment sitting backstage with Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, and Mercedes Moné, where he realized how much he values his environment.
“I remember [weeks ago] I was sitting at the monitor, and it was me, [Will] Ospreay, Swerve, Mercedes Moné. I was just looking around and I’m like, ‘Man, everybody’s watching the monitor. Everybody’s hyping up whatever is on TV right now. These are the people that I want to be [at] war with.’ It’s just the trust that I have with people at AEW. I look around to the left and to the right of me, and I feel like I’m surrounded by people that I want to go to battle with.”
Garcia’s commitment to AEW and his passion for wrestling remain unwavering, and with his renewed contract, he’s ready to take his career to the next level.
