Bryan Danielson had repeatedly stated that he would end his full-time in-ring career the next time he lost a match and that came to fruition at AEW WrestleDream. Prior to the event, he shared details about various health issues in interviews, and the authenticity of those concerns has now been confirmed.

AEW WrestleDream 2024 was an event packed with unforgettable moments and thrilling matches that kept fans engaged throughout the night. The main event saw Bryan Danielson defending his AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley in a highly anticipated clash.

Ultimately, Jon Moxley picked up the win by choking out Danielson to capture the title. Following the match, the Blackpool Combat Club launched a brutal attack on Danielson, resulting in him being taken out on a stretcher and leaving the audience with a sad ending to the show.

Prior to WrestleDream, Bryan Danielson revealed in an interview that he started losing strength in his legs during his match with Kazuchika Okada during the fifth anniversary of AEW Dynamite on October 2nd, 2024.

“Midway through the match, I started losing strength in my legs. There’s a point later in the match where I’m trying to kick him, and I can’t turn over my kicks. That’s something that I have the body mechanics to do because I have been doing it for so long, but here I am and I can’t turn my hip over for this kick.”

While speaking on Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp reported that many people questioned whether his interviews about his health status were in character. It was noted that what Danielson said in the interviews was legitimate, as there was serious worry about his physical condition and his ability to compete in the future. Additionally, it was important for Tony Khan to have him as champion at one point.

“Many people wondered if his interviews were in character regarding his health status. Those were true. There was serious concern about his physicality and the level in which he would be able to compete moving forward. It was also important to Tony Khan for him to be champion at one point.”

We have also reported that Bryan Danielson is expected to undergo neck surgery following AEW WrestleDream and his full-time in-ring career has officially come to an end. Therefore, we’ll have to see when Danielson will come back, as it’s apparent he will have a score to settle with The Blackpool Combat Club upon his return.
