Damian Priest worked hard to become one of the most dependable stars in WWE, but a major opportunity was taken from him after he wasn’t able to act in ‘Black Panther’ and now the reason behind that has been revealed.

The world of professional wrestling is as popular as ever and has more than transcended over to the mainstream. After all, pro wrestling is mentioned in many movies and TV shows and some WWE stars have even worked on Marvel movies.

In case you were not aware, Damian Priest revealed that he was invited to audition for a role in the popular Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022. He confirmed that he initially secured a role in the film, but it was later taken away. Priest clarified that this decision was not made by Marvel itself.

While speaking on Grilling JR, Jim Ross was asked about the reason behind Priest not getting a role in the movie. Ross believes Vince McMahon was the reason Damian Priest didn’t get a role in “Black Panther.” Ross explains that McMahon usually made things work if he was in control, but he needed to come up with ideas himself.

Since the “Black Panther” role wasn’t McMahon’s idea, it didn’t happen. Ross believes that if McMahon didn’t come up with an idea, it often didn’t go anywhere. He thinks the role in “Black Panther” could have helped make Damian Priest a bigger star, but McMahon’s way of doing things might have been why he missed out.

“As long as he was in total control, things generally worked out okay. But it had to be his idea, and apparently, the Black Panther thing was not his idea. So that’s Vince; that’s how he operated. I’m not saying it’s the best way of operating—I don’t think it is—but anything you can do to make these guys bigger stars, you’re better off. This would have made him a bigger star, no doubt about that. It was a hot movie that did really well. But, you know, it’s Vince’s way or the highway, and if he didn’t originate the idea, sometimes it never gets off his desk.”

It remains a big shame that Damian Priest was not able to become a part of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as he would have excelled in the movie. Regardless, we’ll have to see if he will end up getting another role in a Marvel movie in the future.
