Torrie Wilson was a trailblazer for today’s female Superstars, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and maintaining enduring popularity among fans. However, Wilson has now admitted that she had struggles with the various controversial WWE bikini segments.
Wilson joined the Stamford-based promotion in 2001, where her tenure included participation in various bikini contests and provocative segments, often involving Vince McMahon and other wrestling stars.
Torrie Wilson retired from professional wrestling in 2008 after parting ways with WWE. Despite her retirement, she has made occasional appearances for the company. In 2019, Wilson received the prestigious honor of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
While speaking on THREADS with McKenzie Mitchell, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed the process of building swagger while working on-screen. Wilson revealed that dancing in bikinis, a common aspect of her performances, was actually uncomfortable and challenging. She explained that the popular misconception created an illusion that it was easy for the stars, but it actually posed difficulties.
“Summoning that swagger for me was not only difficult when I was wrestling but even more difficult when I was dancing around in bikinis…. And, I think there’s a misconception, like because I owned it, that I was super comfortable with it, but I wasn’t. Like, that was definitely hard. But, again, if you walk through anything in life and look like that thing owns you, you’re in trouble.”
Torrie Wilson’s illustrious career and contributions to the professional wrestling industry will undoubtedly resonate with fans and peers for years to come. From her iconic run in WWE to her numerous accolades and championships, Torrie Wilson has firmly cemented her place in wrestling history.
While her future in WWE remains uncertain, fans eagerly await the possibility of her return, eager to see her make another mark in the world of professional wrestling.
