CM Punk has never failed to burn bridges with almost every promotion he has worked with, especially with WWE. His run with AEW came to an abrupt end last week and now it appears RVD stated that Punk was really happy just before AEW fired him.
CM Punk greatly damaged his reputation after AEW All Out last year, where he was involved in a backstage brawl with The Elite. When he returned to AEW as part of Collision, fans hoped there would be no more drama and things would carry on smoothly.
That did not happen as CM Punk and Jack Perry had been suspended following their backstage confrontation at AEW All In, which eventually led to Tony Khan firing CM Punk. Khan would then provide the reason behind Punk’s firing.
While speaking on the 1 Of A Kind podcast, RVD talked about meeting CM Punk at the Cauliflower Alley Club, where Punk received the prestigious Iron Mike Mazurki award. RVD stated that CM Punk seemed really happy mere days before his AEW firing.
“I just saw him Thursday night. He was getting an award, and he gave a speech, and he came down and talked to me. He was in a really good mood, good vibes really. Really seemed like [he] was really happy in the moment, felt like he was having a good time, sitting over at the other table by Mickie James … And anyway … he’ll be alright. It be interesting to see where he ends up … Who knows, but best wishes to him and everybody.”
Ringside News also exclusively reported that CM Punk wants fans to believe WWE is an option for him. That said, WWE doesn’t seem interested in signing CM Punk. We’ll have to wait and see what will become of CM Punk in the end.
