Lacey Evans has undeniable star power in WWE and clearly has an indomitable spirit in it. That said, her booking in the past few years has left a lot to be desired. Booker T recently made some controversial comments about Evans and it appears he decided to clarify them.

Lacey Evans returned on Smackdown a couple of weeks ago and squared off against Zelina Vega in a Money In The Bank qualifier. Evans ended up losing the match and was clearly very angry.

Lacey Evans sported a new look on the show, wearing a camouflage jacket and hat, similar to Sgt. Slaughter. This led to Slaughter’s daughter calling her out for stealing his look. This essentially opened up a can of worms with even Sgt. Slaughter getting involved in a big way.

That said, Booker T recently criticized Evans for not making use of her assets due to her current gimmick. Unsurprisingly, Booker T got lot of backlash for his comments. While speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T addressed his controversial comments and clarified what he actually meant.

Let me just get this straight, [this business], it’s not just about wrestling. Wrestling is a part of it, but becoming a star — I’ve known a boatload of great wrestlers, guys that could wrap circles around me from a wrestling perspective, but that’s not what this thing is really all about.

It’s about entertaining the fans, making the fans feel a certain way, taking them on a journey that they’re going to remember for the rest of their life […] It’s got so much more to do with it than just getting in the ring and wrestling. And if you think that way you’re going to be bruised, beat up, battered, and torn by the time your career is over with, and you’re going to have no money.

It’s always been about the drama. How many times have we seen a wedding at one of the pay-per-views? It always goes to hell. That’s part of professional wrestling, so it’s not just about wrestling.

People that try to spin it they’ve never been in the business before, they’ve never made money in this business. They’ve probably never been in any form of Show Business entertainment, so I don’t put a whole lot of stock or weight into what people say when I do make a comment like that.”

Sgt. Slaughter wasn’t happy about Lacey Evans using his move either. WWE also has no plans to push Lacey Evans despite her return. Regardless, we will have to wait and see what will become of Lacey Evans in the end.

What’s your view on what Booker T said? Do you agree with him? Let us know in the comments!
