Seth Rollins won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. He teased a new challenger last week, but it seemed that he shut Damian Priest down. Now, we are gearing up for Seth’s first title defense, and Priest is the man he has to beat. This might not have been the plan all along.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that WWE either didn’t know last week who was facing Seth Rollins this week for his World Heavyweight Championship, or this was a Vince McMahon call.

It was noted that Triple H may have known about the match this week, because he booked the main event last week as he did. “Even then, if this was going to be the thing, you could have always beat Finn Balor, you didn’t have to curb stomp Damian Priest.”

Either way, it is certainly interesting booking to give Damian Priest a WWE World Heavyweight Title shot this week. This is especially true given the face that Seth Rollins beat Priest clean last week.

“When it comes to booking, I don’t know how you justify it, I mean, crowds are through the roof,” Dave Meltzer went on to say, but that doesn’t help “logical booking.”

As we previously reported, Vince McMahon is making a lot of changes to WWE television shows, but he’s making those calls remotely. Although we do know what changes have been made by Mr. McMahon, we’re uncertain exactly what those alterations were.
