According to details provided by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s Night of Champions event garnered solid traditional pay-per-view buys and Google search interest.

It’s worth noting that the majority of WWE fans now watch events on the Peacock streaming service, where viewership numbers have been consistently increasing. Night of Champions was particularly significant as it attracted more viewership than any other WWE event held in Saudi Arabia.

In terms of traditional PPV buys, Night of Champions recorded 8,300 purchases, an increase from the previous month’s Backlash event, which saw 6,700 buys. This is even more impressive considering that Backlash aired during prime time, while Night of Champions took place in the middle of the day (1 PM ET).

What stands out is that 14.4% of those who purchased Night of Champions also bought AEW Double or Nothing, which occurred the following night. This represents the highest crossover of PPV buys between WWE and AEW to date.

Interestingly, the crossover percentage rises to approximately 20% among satellite dish owners. Typically, satellite dish owners lean more towards WWE and less towards AEW. For comparison, during the same month, 8.4% of those who bought WWE’s Elimination Chamber also purchased AEW Revolution, but those events were separated by a two-week interval rather than 24 hours.

Regarding Google search interest, WWE ranked sixth on May 27 with 200,000 searches, which is a typical amount. In comparison, AEW ranked 11th on May 28 with 50,000 searches. This means that AEW’s search interest accounted for only a quarter of what WWE received. However, it’s worth mentioning that more detailed figures will be available in the following week, which may provide a more accurate assessment.

Night of Champions demonstrated solid PPV buys and maintained a strong presence in Google search interest, highlighting the ongoing popularity and viewership of WWE events.
