Goldberg’s contributions to the pro wrestling world cannot be forgotten. While he is a divisive figure now, Goldberg was universally beloved back in the 90s. Goldberg also has a history with Brock Lesnar, who is arguably his greatest foe in WWE. Now it appears that Kurt Angle claimed that Lesnar’s stupidity led to him losing against Goldberg at WrestleMania 20.

After 12 years away from the ring, Goldberg returned at WWE Survivor Series 2016 to face off against Brock Lesnar. Prior to that, Goldberg’s last match was against Lesnar at WrestleMania 20, which was hated by many fans.

Everyone knew Lesnar and Goldberg were going to leave WWE after WrestleMania 20, which is why they turned on the match. Lesnar was also fed up with WWE’s hectic travel schedule by early 2004 and wanted to go to the NFL.

While speaking with Inside The Ropes, Kurt Angle claimed that Brock Lesnar told him he wanted to quit the company. Angle then told Lesnar that he needed to wait until WrestleMania 20 to tell Vince McMahon about his plans. Angle then added that Lesnar telling McMahon before WrestleMania would result in Lesnar doing the job to Goldberg. Ultimately, that is what happened and Angle called Lesnar an idiot.

“We go back. We go to RAW, or SmackDown. We’re on SmackDown. He goes up to Vince. Says, ‘Vince, I want to try out for the NFL.’ I was like, “Oh! F*** man! He just f**** himself.” So, next week is WrestleMania and what happened… Brock Lesnar does the job against Goldberg. It would’ve been the other way if Brock would have smartened up but he didn’t because he’s an idiot.”

Brock Lesnar eventually returned to WWE in 2012 and has remained one of the main attractions for the company since. He is currently engaged in a feud with Cody Rhodes, so we’ll have to see how the feud will continue to be booked.
