AEW is going to introduce a new show, Collision, on June 17th, and the brand will be wrapped around CM Punk. That situation captured a lot of attention over the past few weeks, and Punk is on a lot of people’s radars. Steve Austin is also paying attention to his old friend’s work.

We previously reported that Steve Austin admitted that he still texts CM Punk. He also put the Second City Savior over in epic fashion while he was at it.

While speaking to SI, Steve Austin was asked about CM Punk’s latest dose of drama with AEW. He still texts Punk, and he revealed a recent message they exchanged, but the Texas Rattlesnake didn’t really dive into his thoughts about the AEW Collision controversy.

“I just sent a message to Punk yesterday, and we were just talking about his dog. He posted a picture of his dog and I sent him a message. I heard through the grapevine that he pulled his tricep. I said, ‘Did you tear your tricep?’ and he confirmed that he had.

I don’t know where he is on the healing process. I don’t know the ins and outs or the behind the scenes stuff. We own a TV and we stream shows every night, but I don’t watch TV. I don’t watch any shows. What I do keep up with wrestling is on social media. I don’t know if there’s a soap opera behind Punk. I think he’s a hellacious talent. I don’t know the trouble or the ongoings of which you speak, so I can’t answer that question. That’s an honest response because I don’t know.”

AEW is going to bring Collision to fans on Saturdays, whether there is a need for another pro wrestling show or not. Although Tony Khan did not announce CM Punk’s return to the company, the fact that Collision will take place in Chicago is enough confirmation that AEW fans need to know that CM Punk is on his way back.

Only time will tell what CM Punk’s next run in AEW looks like. Steve Austin will likely watch from afar, and odds are the two might share a few texts along the way.

What’s your take on CM Punk’s latest drama with AEW Collision? Does AEW need another show? Sound off in the comments!
