Vince McMahon Had Interesting Demand for Saraya’s Main Roster Call Up to Happen

Saraya is hailed as one of the true pioneers of women’s wrestling in the modern era of the business. After all, she paved the way for what would eventually be known as the women’s revolution in WWE. That said, it appears that Vince McMahon had an interesting demand for Saraya’s main roster call up to even happen.

Saraya signed a developmental contract with WWE back in 2011 and competed in Florida Championship Wrestling before it eventually changed to the original version of NXT.

Saraya saw great success in NXT, as she went on to become the NXT Women’s Champion there. She also shocked the world after debuting on the main roster on the RAW after WrestleMania 30, where Saraya defeated AJ Lee to become the new Diva’s Champion.

While speaking on the Mark Hoke Show, Saraya talked about her time on the WWE main roster. The former Paige revealed that Triple H pushed for her to be called up. Triple H managed to convince Vince McMahon to call up Paige but under one interesting condition.

“It was Triple H who was the one like pitching for me to go on the main roster and Vince (McMahon) was like, ‘Fine! But she has to wear purple’ and that was it. So I had to get my purple wrestling gear and I slowly transitioned back into the black again eventually and he didn’t notice again.”

Saraya also accused WWE of holding her back before her exit. Saraya will always have fond memories of her time in WWE, but she is now focused on working in AEW and that’s all Saraya cares about right now.
