We previously reported that WWE had the idea for Triple H’s cameo at the end of RAW in the early draft for the show. This was likely a plan from the start. Obviously, Cody Rhodes’ storyline is something that they wanted to give special attention to.

During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted something very interesting about Cody Rhodes’ segment with Triple H on RAW this week. It was stated that Triple H was actually reenacting something that actually happened once upon a time with Bryan Danielson in WWE.

This is actually a worked version of when Hunter wanted to stop that Bryan Danielson match and Daniel wanted to fight him in the back. Where Hunter is trying to tell him ‘you can’t do this’ and Cody’s furiously explaining, ‘bro, you’ve done this 1,000 times, what would you do?’ Finally, Hunter gave in, and now Cody Rhodes is going into Night of Champions with a clipped wing.

WWE has a lot of plans in the pipeline, and Cody Rhodes is set to be a huge focus. It should say something that both reported main event ideas so far for WrestleMania 40 include the American Nightmare.

We will have to see how Cody Rhodes’ fight with Brock Lesnar goes in Saudi Arabia. Night of Champions could be a very rough night for Rhodes, but it’s all on the path to finish his story.
