John Cena was the face of WWE for more than a decade and did a lot of work for the company while he was still an active WWE Superstar. It did not always start that way, as there was a time Cena was at risk of being released by the company. That said, it appears that The Big Show was responsible for him becoming a major star in WWE.

Paul Wight used to be known as Big Show in WWE and was always a highlight of Vince McMahon’s television product, for one reason or the other. Wight spent more than twenty years there before he decided to make his take his skills to AEW back in 2021.

John Cena and The Big Show have squared off against each other on numerous occasions over the years. In fact, John Cena’s first-ever WrestleMania win was against The Big Show at WrestleMania 20, where Cena beat him for the United States Championship.

While speaking during a 92NY event recently, John Cena revealed that The Big Show was one of the few supporters he had during the early days of his WWE career. Cena added that The Big Show was responsible for him becoming a major WWE Superstar.

“Just the moments that he would open up as a human being. He is a kind and gentle giant, a giving giant. He was very much responsible, he was one of the few supporters of me when no one else would bet on me. We’ve had great conversations over the years, and those are some of my favorite moments — when you get to talk to Paul.”

John Cena himself addressed his reputation for burying talent recently. Regardless, we will have to wait and see when the Leader of Cenation will make his return to WWE television once again.
