CM Punk and The Elite threw down at All Out last year, and that broke into a huge situation. Everyone was suspended, and Ace Steel was fired for his part in Brawl Out, because he bit Kenny Omega. Although Ace Steel will likely never be back in AEW, CM Punk is gearing up for a comeback.

CM Punk is expected to be a part of AEW’s new Saturday Collision show. That new show is going to be announced during the Warner Bros Discovery upfronts on May 18th. The return of CM Punk could also come with an apology.

During the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that at least one person in the CM Punk vs The Elite scandal wants to apologize. It was said that they are willing to apologize, and that person is not CM Punk.

Regarding the questions everyone asks about the internal stuff and people making up and working together, nothing has changed. There are a number of different legal issues still ongoing and in play and nobody is allowed to publicly talk or contact the other side or talk about any of the issues. From someone near the top, they are no closer to any resolutions than they have been, but things are more reasonable. At least one person is willing to apologize and has wanted to for a while but is not allowed to make any contact. This isn’t Punk, as we don’t know one way or the other what he’s willing to do. Another person on that side also said that they believe that apologies are in order, but more than one, that Punk should be the first but not the only one.

CM Punk is expected to make his AEW return, and the company already has special episode name planned for his comeback. If anything, we know that AEW and CM Punk will do business again, no matter what the EVPs think about the situation.

This CM Punk fiasco could also cause a perfect storm regarding The Elite’s contract talks. Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks are still talking about new deals, and nothing has been signed. Hangman Page is in the same boat, which could make for a very interesting free agency season.

What’s your take on CM Punk’s return to AEW? Does he need to make a return to the company? Sound off in the comments!
