Paul Heyman has been one of the most well-known and established names in the pro wrestling world for decades. His mind for the industry is truly genius, as Heyman truly understands the business. That said, it appears that Heyman once paid The Blue Meanine double the money after a brutal match with The Sandman.

Shane Douglas made a name for himself in ECW, which was run by Paul Heyman at the time. There were quite a few controversial and dangerous wrestlers back in the original ECW and that included The Sandman.

Shane Douglas worked with many people but he refused to work with The Sandman in the 1990s due to just how reckless and dangerous The Sandman could be. The Blue Meanie knew this all too well.

At one point, The Blue Meanie was a bloody pulp after a match with The Sandman. While speaking with WSI’s James Romero, Shane Douglas revealed that he made Paul Heyman pay Meanie twice the money after his match with The Sandman.

“He is beat to hell. I mean, bloodied here [face], here [neck], here [shoulder]. It’s like somebody went out there and tortured him. I went over and he didn’t complain to me about it. I took him right to Paul and I said, ‘Do you condone this?’ I mean, this guy was basically tortured in the ring, right? And I made him pay him double that night.”

Shane Douglas added that he has no problem with The Sandman in real life. Regardless, The Sandman will always be considered one of the most dangerous stars in ECW and no one can say otherwise.
