Charlotte Flair shocked the world when she made her WWE return on the final SmackDown of 2022. She then challenged and defeated Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship to the delight of the WWE Universe who welcomed her back with open arms.

Charlotte Flair recently opened up about her title win in an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful. She mentioned that she felt as if the crowd missed her based on their reaction.

“This isn’t the first time [laughs]. What, me? I think I was excited, but my only hesitation was, winning it off the bat, I truly felt like people had missed me, feels heelish in itself. Heelish by default, but the audience was so great and I was like, ‘it’s an opportunity, go with it.’ I felt like winning it off of Ronda that way did make sense considering payback is a bitch from breaking my arm,” she said.

Following the win, Charlotte Flair snatched the title from the referee, who was just trying to raise her arm. The Queen noted that she apologized to the referee for her heelish actions that night.

“I apologized profusely backstage. That was just habit, ‘Give me that title, I’m leaving.’ Old habits die hard,” she said with a laugh.

Charlotte Flair further added that she wasn’t expecting to have a match and thought that she was there to set something up for the future. Obviously she is always looking ahead.

“I think it was just being back, because I had never been gone that long. Just coming out with an entrance, whether it was Ronda or another opponent, just setting up something for the future and being like, ‘Hey, I’m back,’ kind of felt like enough.”

Charlotte Flair will defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39. It will be interesting to see if Charlotte will be able to defeat Rhea Ripley once again. Stay tuned to Ringside News for live coverage of WrestleMania 39.
