Cody Rhodes is currently one of the most prominent figures in the world of WWE. Following his impressive performance at WrestleMania 38, his popularity only continues to increase even now. It seems Rhodes believes leaving AEW was a far bigger gamble than the 2018 All In pay-per-view.

Cody Rhodes made a sudden departure from AEW in February last year, leaving fans in shock. Prior to his exit, Rhodes was a standout performer in AEW programming, helping to elevate numerous fellow wrestlers with his captivating performances.

Cody Rhodes was frequently booed in AEW toward the very end of his run with the company. Fans simply wanted him to turn heel no matter what, but that never happened. Rhodes also does not want to change a thing about that.

While speaking with APNews.com, Cody Rhodes opened up about his pro wrestling career over the past few years. AEW was then mentioned and this led to Rhodes stating that he believes leaving AEW was a far bigger gamble than the 2018 All In PPV.

“When I left my former gig to come back to WWE, it was a far bigger gamble than ‘All In’ ever was. That’s why I get these ‘All In’ vibes when I think about WrestleMania because I certainly could have been the laughingstock of the industry. And going into the biggest event ever involved in the wrestling ring from any measurable standpoint is one part of life being great, blessed and lucky.

The other part is I have my family in terms of Brandi (his wife) and Liberty (his daughter), for them to come to this and experience this knowing that it wasn’t a life wasted. Every sacrifice I’ve made, early morning gym trip, times I wasn’t able to be home or won’t be able to be home, it’s not a life wasted in what we do and that makes this run just all the sweetest.”

Cody Rhodes is also the favorite to defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. We will have to wait and see whether The American Nightmare will be able to topple Roman Reigns.

Are you excited for WrestleMania 39? Do you think Cody Rhodes will finally put an end to Roman Reigns’ title run? Sound off in the comments!
