Gunther might have sown the seeds of becoming the top heel in the company through his epic performance at the Royal Rumble. The Ring General’s Intercontinental Championship run has been simply phenomenal, and he has been defending it since last June. Gunther’s most recent defense was against Braun Strowman on the January 13th edition of SmackDown, which showed that he is also capable of defeating big men in the ring. It seems that a dream match for Gunther isn’t out of the question either.

Initially, Gunther was rumored to wrestle Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 39, but with Lesnar locked in for a fight with Omos, fans have to keep hoping that it happens in the future. There were a couple of pitched matches for Lesnar, including Steve Austin and Bray Wyatt, both of which were rejected.

The Ring General and The Beast Incarnate came face to face at the Royal Rumble and showed a glimpse of what they can do. Gunther, too, has expressed his desire to fight Lesnar in several interviews.

The Ring General had recently stated that his encounter with Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble gave him confirmation that the WWE Universe too is rooting for the match to happen.

According to a recent report by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Gunther vs. Brock Lesnar can surely happen in future, with the possibility being very high. However, Gunther needs another year to prove his worth as a threat to Lesnar in order for a match against him.

Gunther has certainly cemented himself as one of the top in-ring performers of the current generation. The Ring General, having given five-star performances in the past, can add another feather to his cap if his match against Lesnar happens in the future.

The Ring General will defend his Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania, with his opponent yet to be determined. With Sheamus and McIntyre pinning simultaneously last week, the no. 1, the two were in conflict with each other regarding who will face Gunther at WrestleMania. However this week’s Friday night SmackDown will determine the winner between the two.
