Kota Ibushi is widely regarded as one of the most talented professional wrestlers in history. Despite being surrounded by controversy in early 2022, which led fans to speculate about his departure from NJPW, he has since become a free agent, having parted ways with the company. In fact, Tony Khan is open to signing Ibushi now.

Kota Ibushi has been out of action since his defeat against Kazuchika Okada in the final match of the G1 Climax 31 tournament in NJPW in October 2021, due to a shoulder injury. Fans have been eagerly anticipating his return to the ring, but there has been no official update on his in-ring comeback status yet.

As previously reported, Kota Ibushi is now officially free agent after parting ways with NJPW. Right after that, Ibushi was announced for several upcoming shows, including in GCW.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan talked about Kota Ibushi becoming a free agent. Khan made it clear that he will consider signing Kota Ibushi.

There’s a lot of great free agents in the world of pro wrestling but certainly Kota Ibushi is a great talent. When you have a name like that, everybody in the world of pro wrestling would be very fortunate to have in their promotion. I really wanted to work with him in the past so I think that’s something we’d certainly have to consider.

Kota Ibushi revealed that he does not plan on going to AEW immediately. Ibushi even hinted at making his way to AEW. Only time will tell whether The Golden Lovers will reunite in Tony Khan’s company, with Ibushi and Kenny Omega reforming their team.
