The 2023 Royal Rumble just concluded last night. The event was a massive success and was headlined by the Universal Championship match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. People have been buzzing about the ending of the show where Zayn attacked Roman Reigns with a steel chair. Apart from this, fans have also been talking about Rey Mysterio.

During the men’s Royal Rumble match, Rey Mysterio was supposed to enter at number 17. However, after his music hit, he never showed up.

Instead, Dominik Mysterio came out as the next entrant wearing Rey Mysterio’s mask. WWE never did an angle showing Rey getting hurt backstage which surprise fans who wondered about the luchador’s whereabouts.

PWInsider is now reporting that Rey Mysterio was pulled from his signing the morning of the Royal Rumble, and he was replaced by Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio.

It is being reported that Mysterio was banged up from his match against Karrion Kross the night before on SmackDown, but was ok. He was also slated to do an angle with Dominik that would potentially build to a singles match at WrestleMania.

The word yesterday morning was that Mysterio was banged up from his match the night before on Smackdown but was “OK.”  It was back and forth as to whether he would perform at the Rumble, where he was slated to shoot an angle with Dominik to help build to a singles match at Wrestlemania.

In the end, they ran an angle where Rey never appeared for his Rumble slot and instead, Dominik was the next competitor, wearing Rey’s mask and tearing it up.  The implication was that Dominik had attacked Rey.

However, in the end, they changed their plans and made it looks like Dominik had attacked Rey Mysterio before he could enter the match. We will have to wait and see if the plan is still for Dominik and Rey to face off at WrestleMania. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we keep you updated on this story.
