The Wyatt Family was one of the most iconic stables in WWE history. Bray Wyatt arrived with his cult leader persona flanked by Erick Rowan and Luke Harper in NXT in 2012. Former WWE superstar Rene Dupree recently revealed that the Wyatt Family storyline was his idea, which is quite a bold claim.

Rene Dupree joined the Stamford-based company in 2002. He was an active competitor for about five years, winning the WWE Tag Team Championship and the World Tag Team Championship. The 39-year-old, however, requested his release and left the company in July 2007.

During the most recent Cafe de Rene episode, a fan asked Dupree if WWE had ever given any of his storyline ideas to anyone else. He revealed that he pitched a Devil’s Rejects storyline which basically turned into The Wyatt Family. Dupree revealed that he probably pitched more where WWE gave it to other people as well, but the Wyatt Family really sticks out to him.

Yeah, the Devil’s Rejects storyline which basically turned into The Wyatts. [Oh, really?] Yep. And then remember Charlie Haas’ thing where you imitate guys? Yep, when you imitate different wrestlers and then blow up, that was my idea too. I probably pitched more where they gave it to other people.

Rene Dupree has been an active competitor on the independent circuit since his WWE exit. In addition, he wrestled for All Japan Pro Wrestling. He last competed in July 2022, when he defeated Daiki Inaba, Kazushi Sakuraba, Kinya Okada, Masaaki Mochizuki, and Shuhei Taniguchi at a NOAH event with Anthony Greene, El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Simon Gotch, and Stallion Rogers.

The former World Tag Team Champion also discussed the possibility of returning to WWE on a previous episode of Cafe de Rene. Let’s see if that ever happens.

The Wyatt Family are a thing of the past, but they still live on in the memories of fans everywhere. If Renee Dupre had his way, then fans would have a much different memory of the stable. Keep an eye on Ringside News for the latest updates.
