Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle are two of WWE’s most decorated superstars, with a combined 15 world title victories between them. Lesnar cemented himself as The Beast of the WWE for 20 years, and during that time, he has rarely lost. However, he appeared destined to lose to Kurt Angle at a WrestleMania match.

The WWE Championship was at stake in the WrestleMania 19 main event between Lesnar and Angle. Most people remember the match for The Beast’s terrifying-looking shooting star push, which nearly seriously hurt him. The Olympic gold medalist stated that he was expected to defeat Lesnar before a neck injury scuppered the company’s plans on The Kurt Angle Show.

I was next in line to have a good title reign. And they didn’t want me to beat Brock at Survivor Series because I was going to wrestle Brock at WrestleMania 19. Five months later, and during that time, I was supposed to beat Brock, but I broke my neck beforehand. So I had to do the job for Brock and give him the title because I had to have surgery. So they didn’t want me to beat Brock two times in a row. So Big Show beat Brock Lesnar, then I beat Big Show. That way, I didn’t beat Brock twice.

Lesnar strangely finds himself in the back of the line for a crack at the world championship due to his streak of defeats to Roman Reigns this year. WWE may be mulling a different strategy for him at WrestleMania in the meantime.
