WWE has been taping cinematic matches for quite some time now, something that was very useful during the pandemic. The company brought back the concept for NXT Halloween Havoc tonight, but Shawn Michaels says that won’t be a recurring thing for the white and gold brand in the future.

The Heartbreak Kid and his team utilized the cinematic match concept for Mandy Rose’s title defense against Alba Fyre at Halloween Havoc. The two women battled inside an abandoned building before taking the fight to the ring at the Performance Center later on during the show.

Shawn Michaels said NXT won’t be revisiting the concept of cinematic matches that much during the post-Halloween Havoc media call. The WWE Hall of Famer praised the team and the performers involved in doing a great job as well.

“Well, that’s one of those situations where, again, our team here, our creative team and the studio guys in Stamford just do a fantastic job. That’s people starting at 8 at night and going to 3 in the morning. That’s people working their tails off in the middle of the time

“That’s not something I see us doing a lot, but at Halloween Havoc it just works. We do that outside and the rest of it we bring to the building. That’s not the sort of thing we’d normally do. That’s just the sort of thing to do to continue that idea for Halloween Havoc, so we did it there.”

Shawn Michaels also said that he would find that sort of match “difficult” to film something in advance and then go back a few days later and pick things back up to complete the match live. In the end, HBK said that he was “impressed how they pulled it off as well as those ladies did.”
