AJ Styles Believes Match With Gunther Will Definitely Happen

Gunther used to be known as WALTER during his NXT UK days and had a history-making run as the NXT UK Champion. He lost the title to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36, shocking fans. AJ Styles also wants a piece of Gunther.

Gunther finally made his way to the United States as part of the NXT roster, but that didn’t last long. Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser made their main roster debut on Friday Night Smackdown earlier this year and have been mainstays on the brand since then.

After becoming the Intercontinental Champion, Gunther has been booked very strongly as the champion. While speaking on WWE’s The Bump, AJ Styles stated that he believes a match with Gunther will definitely happen in the future.

“Sure, it’s gonna happen, down the line, it definitely will happen. I think one of the things I’m gonna stay away from is, if I can, is that massive chop coming across my chest. It’s happened a lot, it’s part of wrestling. But, man, that can’t feel good.”

Gunther is set to defend his title against Sheamus at WWE Clash At The Castle or on September 3rd. We will have to wait and see whether he will be able to retain his title or not.
